Obituary of Henry H. "Hank" Doering
Henry H. Hank Doering, 80, of Garnett, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Golden Heights Living center, Garnett, Kansas.
He was born August 5, 1927 at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Henry B. and Erma M. (King) Doering. Hank graduated from Garnett High School in 1945. He then entered the US Navy, serving for one year. Following his time in the service, he attended Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas and Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, Kansas, where he played football and ran track. On August 5, 1949 Hank married Berniece Stroup at Cadmus, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2005. Hank returned to Garnett in 1951 to operate the Double H Ranch, where he raised registered Hereford cattle for over 30 years. Hank continued in the cattle business until 2006. He enjoyed being a private pilot.
Survivors include two sons, Steven B. Doering and his wife Karen; Michael C. Doering and his wife Cindy of Garden City, Kansas; six grandchildren, Hank Doering and his wife Laci and daughter, Maxine of Andover, Kansas; Greg Doering of Wamego, Kansas, Chris Doering of Richmond, Virginia, Randy Doering of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mark Doering of Overland Park, Kansas and Kristen Doering of Garden City, Kansas..
