Obituary of Patricia Anne Manyak
Patricia Manyak passed from this life on December 19, 2007 at Johnson County Nursing Center, Olathe, Kansas.
Pat was born February 3, 1929 in Garnett, Kansas, the third child of Louis and Ardath (Spohn) Ross. The Ross family farmed in Anderson County, Kansas and moved to Yates Center, Kansas in 1945, where Pat graduated from Yates Center High School in 1947. Pat received her diploma from Kansas City Secretarial School in 1948 and was employed by Business Mens Assurance Company until her marriage September 19, 1953 to John Manyak. They had one son, Mark Eugene, born in 1959. As a family the Manyaks lived in Madison, WI; Westminster, CO; Grand Junction, CO; Lakewood, CO; Cuba, NM; and Green River, WY. In 1980 Pat and John relocated to Yakima, WA where they operated an apple orchard and an Income Tax business.
Mark Eugene was killed in a single vehicle accident near Rock Springs, WY in 1983. John died in 1997, and Pat returned to the Kansas City area in 2001 to be near family.
Pat was an active and devoted volunteer in the Legion of Mary and other church activities throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, sewing and travels with friends. Pat will always be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother, as well as a thoughtful and gracious aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was described as a sweet, kind lady by all who knew her and those who cared for her during her illness. She will be deeply missed by all.
Besides her husband and son, Pat was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mary June Ross, who died as an infant, and Kathleen Joan Keplinger; and one brother, John Leon Ross.
Pat is survived by one sister, Evelyn Eldredge and husband Bob of Overland Park, Kansas; three brothers, James Ross and wife Sylvia of Prairie Village, Kansas; Irvin Ross and wife Betty Jo of Pinellas Park, Florida; and Owen David Ross and wife Ruby of Loudon, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Roy Keplinger of Cherryvale, Kansas; and one sister-in-law Christine Ross of Belen, New Mexico; thirty nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.
