Obituary of Robert Prasko
Robert Prasko, age 75, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Windsor Place in Iola, Kansas.
The fifth of six children, Robert P. Prasko was born to John and Anna (Sudol) Prasko on December 2, 1937, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Robert spent his childhood in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He then enlisted in the US Army in 1954. Following his training in Fort Dix, New Jersey, he was stationed at Stuttgard, Germany until 1957. He was proud to have served his country.
In 1958, he married Louise Frances Veolp and they made their home in North Hollywood, California. Their daughter Lisa was born in July of 1961. Eighteen months later, Louise unexpectedly passed away.
Robert spent 20 years working for Edison Brothers, Inc., while living in California. He married Dian Richardson in 1964. Each brought a child into the marriage and together they had Steve and Shelly. While raising his family Robert enjoyed camping, fishing, and water skiing. In 1978, the family moved to Colony, Kansas. Robert and Dian later divorced. He was employed by Wolf Creek Power Plant, Koch Enterprises as a transport driver, and Russell Stovers. He worked for Russell Stovers for the last 15 years up to his recent retirement.
Robert served as a Colony City Council member for the past two years and enjoyed serving in that capacity. He was also a member to the American Legion, Post #15.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Prasko; his brother, John Prasko; his sisters, Anna Marie Vukmanich and Dorothy Dull; and his first wife, Louise Prasko.
Robert is survived by his son, Steve Prasko and wife Lynette of Colony; daughter, Shelly Strickler and husband Garret of Colony; daughter, Lisa Ewing of Drammen, Norway; son, Doug Prasko of Salton Sea, California; two sisters, Helen Gillo of Columbia Station, Ohio; Margaret Wilson of Suffolk, Virginia; and nine grandchildren.
Robert appreciated the kindness and generosity demonstrated by the community. He was especially grateful for the friendships of Betty Ramsey, Charlie and Betsy Stephens, Jim Powell and Olive Kresge through his cancer journey.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas. The family will greet friends at the funeral home in Colony from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday.
