Obituary of Kenneth William Barsch

Kenneth William Barsch, age 71, of Moran, Kansas, died on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Midland Hospice Care Facility of Topeka, Kansas. Kenneth was born August 30, 1937 at Thayer, Kansas, the son of Kenneth Thomas and Ethel Pearl (Ragan) Barsch. He grew up in Thayer attending school there, graduating from Thayer High School in 1953. He then attended Parsons Junior College for two years. Following school he moved to Wichita, later returning to Parsons, Kansas. He began working construction in Parsons. In 1962 he moved to Topeka, Kansas. On May 1, 1964 he married June Sager at the Highland Park Nazarene Church in Topeka, Kansas. While in Topeka he formed his own construction company, Barsch Corporation. Kenneth ran the business until moving to Moran, Kansas in 1995. In addition to the business, Kenneth also raised cattle while in Topeka. After retiring he continued to raise cattle in Moran. Kenneth was a member of the Topeka Touring Society and Moran Christian Church. Kenneth participated on several Habitat for Humanity builds. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his Moran area friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Marretta Lenore Arey. Kenneth is survived by his wife, June of the home, son, Kenneth Barsch; two daughters, Robin Grindol and husband, Todd, and Angel Blum and husband, Ryan, all of Topeka; a brother, Larry Barsch and wife, Sue, of Rosedale, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Moran Christian Church at Moran, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel at Moran, Kansas. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday at the Emmanuel Cemetery, 53rd and Ratner Road, Berryton, Kansas. The family will greet Topeka area friends following the graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moran Christian Church or The Iola Area Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry or to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
