Obituary of Lucille J Castleberry

Lucille J. Castleberry, age 77, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, at Olathe Medical Center of Olathe, Kansas. She was born on March 28, 1936, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Daisy (Zinnamon) Cullison. Lucille graduated from Garnett High School and began her career at the Osawatomie State Hospital for more than 40 years. Lucille married John Castleberry in May of 1955 in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children, David and Daisy. At the State Hospital, Lucille began her career as a nurse's aide, becoming a psychiatrist counselor to assist in the sheltered workshops. She learned sign language to further her duties and before retiring, she helped the youth teaching various activities. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Garnett for many years. In her later years, she became a member of the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie. In 1987, the Business Professional Women (BPW) of Osawatomie awarded her with Woman of the Year. Lucille was preceded in death by her father, Robert Cullison; her mother, Daisy Dalrymple; son, David Castleberry; two brothers, Eugene Cullison and Dale Cullison; two sisters, Juanita Fisher and Adelia Davidson. She is survived by her daughter, Daisy Freidline and husband Richard of Cleveland, Missouri; two grandsons, David L. Castleberry II of Galena, Kansas and Louis Freidline and wife Amanda of Peculiar, Missouri; one granddaughter, Melanie Freidline of Harrisonville, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Sarah, John, Jacob, and Andrew Freidline, all of Peculiar, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes.
