Dear Family,
Our sincere sympathy at the loss of your beloved Paul. Paul "played" such an important part in our children's school activities. We were also privileged to be a part of his church choir at The First Christian Church. Oh, we will miss him dearly. May God grant each of you His love and "peace" in the days ahead.
Orville, LaVerne, Kathryn, John & Tom Cole
(Will surely miss having Paul around to mix up a batch of his 'favorite' cinnamon rolls.)

I remember spending a great deal of time at the Massey's place working with Paul's children in bands and other projects. Music was always an important discipline in the Massey family. As I look back on my music teaching profession there will always be a piece of Paul Massey in everything I do as is the case for all of my instructors. He's home and I'm sure we'll meet again soon.

The contributions made by Uncle Paul are countless. My memories of him were a loving and dedicated husband, father and caring uncle that considered everyone and made them feel special. One of the most talented musicians I've ever known and undoubtably influenced countless people with his instruction. I'll always remember his great humor and laugh that put everyone at ease. Our sincere condolences to Virginia, Rick, Teresa, Larry and Brian and their families.

Mr. Massey was such a special teacher. Someone that would take extra time to work with his students one on one. He really cared and wanted to help his students excel and become the best musicians that they possibly could be. I remember as a young 7th grader him working with me, teaching me how to use my falsetto voice. Then as a freshman while I was learning to play the tuba he took time out of his schedule after school to show me some techniques. This was the type of teacher he was, he gave of himself and really cared for his students. Thank you Mr. Massey for all you did. To the family may The Lord give you comfort during this time, know that many are praying for you.

I already loved music when I was younger, but a teacher like Mr. Massey showed us that there was so much more to music than just words and beautiful melodies, he helped so many of us find our true voice, not just in music, but in life as well. He was one of my favorite teachers, and Heaven is resonating with one more Beautiful voice, until we meet again.

Ma Me Mi Mo Moo! Mr. Massey was truly a gifted music coach – Anyone who ever attended any event or program he conducted or orchestrate can attest to that! Handel’s Messiah! I was so proud to be a part. And it was really just a reflection of his ability to believe in his students, and to not let his students be any kind of mediocre, for which I am very thankful. My thoughts and prayers with all of you during this difficult time.

Sending condolences to the family... Mr. Massey was such an amazing teacher, and a masterful director! The large, talented choirs and groups coming from a small school is evidence of his ability to make music enjoyable and challenging. May the Lord comfort you in your loss.

I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to Mr. Massey's family. I remember him as a talented and driven music teacher. Though I did not have many classes with him, I will never forget his presence and influence on so many of my classmates and friends. I have no doubt he is either performing or directing up in Heaven as I write this.

I will always remember Paul as a respected fellow music educator who wanted the best from his students and had a history of leading many fine groups. We both fought for our respective programs and yet we continued to remain friends throughout the process. At one point we had to remind the administration of this very point. I have always had the greatest respect for him and his musicianship. I always considered him an excellent teacher whom I envied. We would touch base ever so often and laugh about old times. His impact upon others will always be remembered.

My sincerest condolences to the entire family. When Paul retired in 1993, I had the honor of following him at ACJSHS. Paul was so supportive and caring...he never uttered an unkind word, although I probably deserved them (being a 1st time/1st year teacher). I know he is in Heaven - teaching and leading all! Prayers to the entire family. He will be greatly missed!

My most heartfelt condolences to Virginia and the family. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you all. Paul was the most influential teacher I ever had the privilege of knowing, but more than that he was a great mentor and an even better friend! I credit three people in my life for instilling in me a great love for music -- my parents and Paul Massey. My parents for "forcing" me to take choir in junior high and to Paul for showing me the simple beauty of music. We shared many thoughts and very much laughter over the years! He will be missed immensely!
