Our family was blessed with many years of magical moments with dear Father Bernie: baptisms, through weddings for four children, many Masses in our home with neighbors who are like family. Father was a huge part of our lives. He continues to live in our conversations, and our hearts for all time.

Father Lickteig presided over my parents (Edward and Agnes) 50th Wedding Anniversary mass where they renewed their vows - and that was 1998! It was such a treat to have his lovely demeanor and sense of humor as he know my folks very well and loved them dearly. God Bless you all. He joins our savior, and I'm sure he has a story for my parents and all those fortunate enough to be in Heaven with him.

I have many fond memories of Father Bernard. I remember many visits to Gene and Irma's house when he was there, many stories and lots of laughter. He would also come to visit my folks house and we all enjoyed. Lots could be learned about family and their childhood days. I never will forget his laugh! We were all blessed to have known him!

Our family has lost one with great knowledge; not only of our family and our roots, but also of faith and travels. Thank you, Fr. Bernard for the many fond memories that I hold in my heart from the Lickteig reunions, and gatherings, to the many times when you would be back at Aunt Irma & Uncle Gene’s for visits. As I got older I always looked forward to seeing you and enjoyed visiting with you about our family, religion, and whatever else would come up in conversation. I will miss, but never forget your big hugs, that you always had available for everyone, your smile and the twinkle in your eyes. As you say Christmas mass this year for all of our family in heaven, I know you’ll be smiling down on all of us here on earth. God Bless and May You Rest in Peace!

Fr Bernie was a very good friend. The most educated man I think I ever knew. I learned so mch from him. He was always proud of his family and his Greeley and Carmelite roots. He will be deeply missed by the community and the Catholic parishes he served. Rest in Peace..
