Obituary of Jeanne Evangaline Higginbottom
Jeanne Evangeline Higginbottom, age 88, Garnett, Kansas died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Golden Heights Living Center of Garnett, KS. Jeanne was born September 20, 1923 in Canton, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd R. and Jane Edith (Parmentier) Holcomb. She grew up in Garnett, graduating from Garnett High School in 1941. In June of 1942 she married Earl R. Brooks. Together they had 4 children and lived together until Earl's death in 1989. Jeanne lived in Ottawa, Kansas for 20 years before moving to Pleasanton and eventually returning to Garnett in 1989 after the death of her husband, Earl. She married Paul L. Higginbottom in April 1993; he preceded her in death in 2001.
Jeanne enjoyed music and especially loved playing the organ, piano, violin and any other instrument that she could pick up. The true love of her life was her Lord, Jesus Christ who was in her thoughts continually. She sought after Him her whole life and lived to praise Him. Her family is so thankful for all of the prayers that she's prayed on their behalf throughout her lifetime and takes much comfort in knowing that she is finally where she has always longed to be, worshipping her Lord for eternity. She's looked forward to this day for so long and we rejoice with her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Sherry Bugg of Culman, AL, Mary Jane Cook and her husband, Norman Cook of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jacque Johnson and her husband, Kipp Johnson of Salt Lake City, UT; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Holcomb and 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 nephews and their spouses and children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Jane Holcomb, her brother Bill Holcomb and her son, Tom Brooks.
