Obituary of Dale E. Peine

Dale E. Peine, age 65, of Welda, Kansas, died on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Saint Luke's Hospital on the Plaza, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on September 4, 1943, at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Aaron and Maxine (Peters) Peine. He grew up in the area, graduating from Garnett High School in 1962. Dale served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. After his honorable discharge from the service, Dale married Jeannette Parks in 1968. They later divorced. Dale and Jeannette moved to Washington with their daughter, Tami. Their family soon included a second daughter, Rae. In 1972, Dale survived an automobile accident which left him a quadriplegic. After many months of rehabilitation, he moved back to the Garnett area and worked at Ready Mix Concrete as a batcher. Dale was united in marriage to Connie Chitwood on May 16, 1992 in Garnett. They and Connie's two children moved to Welda. Upon retirement in November 1992, Dale liked to sit outside his garage enjoying a few cold beers and the company of the Welda 'Ole Coots'. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Maxine Peine; two nephews, Kevin Brock and Christopher Chitwood; and his father-in-law, Wayne Chitwood. Dale is survived by his wife, Connie Peine, of Welda, Kansas; daughters, Tamara Jill Skipper and husband Joe of Reardan, Washington; Tanya Rae Skipper and husband Dan of Deer Park, Washington; stepson A.C. Modlin and wife Ronna of Garnett, Kansas; stepdaughter Jessie Renee Modlin of Olathe, Kansas; brothers Larry Peine and wife Sandi of Garnett, Kansas; Dean Peine and wife Cheri of Oswego, Kansas; sisters Marie Brock and husband Jerry of Richmond, Kansas; Joyce Catt of Wichita, Kansas; Ruthann Tonak and husband Dennis of Roscoe, Illinois; six grandchildren; Sabastian Skipper, Dylan Skipper, Felicia Skipper, Massey Davis, Dallas Modlin, and Andrew Modlin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Welda Cemetery in Welda, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, March 8, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Dale.
