I am so sorry to hear of Harold passing. My mother Gertrude Mechnig lived at Golden Heights in Garnett until her death yesterday. Had i known I would have visited Harold while seein Mom.

I remember him at the grocery store, but most recently, while my mom was taking care of him and Jean, I remember her and I sitting in the living room with him. He enjoyed talking about the days past. He had a good memory and told about all the old stores and such. You could just see his eyes sparkle. Our thoughts and prayers are lifiting you up.
Harold was a kind and generous man. I remember him from the grocery store and when we lived in Garnett. So sorry for your loss, but Harold will have a wonderful place where he is going!
Jean and family. What a nice man. Loved visiting with him a the grocery store and after he retired and got into the picture framing business he made several frames for me. He always asked about the kids and was a good friend to Sam. Our thoughts are with you.
Sincere sympathy is extended to your family. I have such great childhood memories of Barr's Grocery in Westphalia! Harold always had a smile and cheery greeting for everyone. He was truly a wonderful man.
Harold was a great guy always so friendly and interested in our family, always ask about
how softball was going. Our mothers always spent Wednesday nights visiting in front of his grocery store while our fathers played cards at the feed sore in Westphalia and us kids (then) would run the streets. There's many memories of a wonderful man with a kind smile at the grocery store. He was one of a kind. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
First met Harold at the Garnett Food Mart and then worked with Jean at the courthouse. Harold always had time to stop and say hello and talk. The last time I saw him at the Dollar Store quite awhile back we had a good visit and talked about Jean and some of the "old days" in the courthouse...he was a good man. Our sincere sympathy to all of your family.

I remember one time you were having a drawing for a coffee pot, and I happened to be the lucky one and won it. I was so excited!! Jean, Paul, Kay, Dean & Jane. I am sorry to hear of the passing of Harold. Ever time I think of him I will remember purchasing a soda pop and a candy bar at the grocery store for a total of 15 cents,from what I considered a pillar of the community.

I always enjoyed having Harold drive the bus when I was a kid. As an adult, I enjoyed seeing him at the gas station hanging out with the guys, always teasing me about something. Have a wonderful frame that he made for our wedding announcement as well.
