Obituary of Ivan Delbert Howarter
Ivan Howarter, age 95, of Escondido, California, passed away on May 7, 2012 in La Mesa, California.
Ivan was born on January 26, 1917, in Kincaid, Kansas, the son of Glenn and Eunice (Taylor) Howarter. He graduated from Kincaid High School. He served in the Army - Air Force from July 24, 1945 to January 8, 1947, during World War II. He was a Sergeant honored with Philippine Independence Ribbon, W.W.II Victory Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.
He was united in marriage to Hazel Cox on June 26, 1941, in Welda, Kansas. This union was blessed with one son, Lanny.
Ivan worked in aircraft construction for over 40 years.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Claron and Wayne Howarter, and sister Blanche Badders.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Howarter of Escondido, California; son, Lanny Howarter and wife Nancy of El Cajon, CA; grandson Sean Howarter and wife Tylene of Jamul, CA; great grandchildren Logan, Peyton and Cole Howarter of Jamul, CA; sister Wanda Holmes and husband, Jim of Garnett, Kansas; brother Wendell Howarter and wife Corine of Mesa, Arizona; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Elsie Fraker and husband Bud of Garnett, Kansas; sister-in-law LaVerne Howarter of Lone Elm; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Lone Elm Cemetery, Lone Elm, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
