Obituary of Roannah McDonald
Roannah McDonald, age 93, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Anderson County Long Term Care in Garnett.
She was born on June 7, 1918, in Moran, Kansas, the second child of eleven born to Homer Curtis and Ruby Visalia (Wilson) Kent.
Roannah was united in marriage to Merritt William McDonald on May 23, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas. After marrying, Roannah worked at home raising their four children. Merritt worked in the Garnett Church Furniture Factory, where Roannah also worked as a receptionist. Roannah later volunteered at the Anderson County Senior Center and ARC Thrift Shop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt W. McDonald on January 29, 1994; three brothers, Homer Kent, Jerry Kent, and George Kent; two sisters, Ruth Brown, and Mary Jean Adams; and an infant sister, Bonnie Mae Kent.
Roannah is survived by three daughters, Sally Jean Feuerborn and husband Charles of Richmond, Kansas; Merritt Ann Wilson of Paola, Kansas; Vicki Sue Hulett and husband Wayne of Garnett, Kansas; son Thomas Kent McDonald and wife Cheri of Overland Park, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Folk of Richland, Washington and Nina Brown of Garnett; and two brothers, Charles Kent and wife, Aubra Ann of Webb City, Missouri and Jim Kent and wife, Barbara of Hoyt, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 13, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anderson County Senior Center and left in care of the funeral home.
