Obituary of Anna Mae Hirt

Anna Mae Hirt, age 75, of Westphalia, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. She was born on January 3, 1937, in Quinter, Kansas, the daughter of William and Anna (Garber) Jamison. She attended school in Quinter. Anna Mae was united in marriage to Leon Hirt on September 12, 1959 in Quinter, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children. She was a homemaker. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Jamison; sister Maxine Jamison; and sister-in-law Brenda Jamison. She is survived by her husband, Leon Hirt, of the home; two sons, Ronnie Hirt of Westphalia, Kansas; Devin Hirt and wife Becky of Amboy, Indiana; daughter Carla Kuns and husband David of Zillah, Washington; three brothers, Calvin Jamison and wife Ethel, Galen Jamison, and Gary "Chub" Jamison, all of Quinter, Kansas; sister Janet Edgecomb and husband Galen of Garnett, Kansas; sister-in-law Donna Jamison of Quinter; nine grandchildren, Gavin Kuns, Shannon Root and husband Benjamin; Brennan Gassaway and husband Dustan; Michaelyn Kuns; Nathan Hirt; Caitlin Hirt; Roxanna Hirt; Zackary Hirt; Blaine Hirt; and three great grandchildren. Mom was baptized as a teenager, and was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren. Mom loved the outdoors and spent many hours gardening, then sharing its bounty with others. She enjoyed her flowers, yardwork, and many years of milking cows. Mom dearly loved her family, and serving them brought her great joy and satisfaction. Her grandchildren were a delight to her. Although she was very energetic and hardworking, in her later years her health gradually declined until she was no longer able to do those things she once enjoyed. Dad lovingly cared for her with the help of an in-home caregiver until her passing. It was hard to let her go, but we would not want to prolong her suffering. The Lord called, and she answered. Blessed be the name of the Lord. She will be greatly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Church of the Nazarene in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Westphalia, Kansas. Family will greet friends on Friday evening from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Garnett.
