Obituary of Ronald Barnett

Ronald Barnett, age 61, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1950, at Colony, Kansas, the twin son of Richard Wayne and Carolea (Hinkle) Barnett. Ron graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1969. Ron married Alice Roper on June 6, 1970, and this union was blessed with two children, Amy Kay and Kevin Michael. He worked in the oil field for about 6 years and Regal Manufacturing in Garnett, before he began his 37 year career with the City of Garnett. Ron's grandfather, Ed Hinkle, was also an employee for the City of Garnett for 37 years, and worked on laying the pipeline to establish the North Lake in 1938. Ron worked in maintenance as a backhoe operator in the gas and water departments. He had a determined work ethic, which he proudly strived to achieve. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Carolea Barnett; sister, Connie Lynn Beck. Ron is survived by his wife, Alice Barnett of the home; daughter, Amy Kay Cygan and husband Christopher of Spring Hill, Kansas; son, Kevin Michael Barnett and wife Chrisandrea of Garnett, Kansas; four grandchildren, Alex and Carter Cygan; Michael and Trinity Barnett; twin brother, Richard Barnett and wife Vicky of Garnett, Kansas; two aunts, Helen (Aunt "Toot") Rockers of Garnett, Kansas and Vivian Barnett of Colony, Kansas; two step-sisters, Christina Beck Nelson and husband Dale of Fairborn, Ohio; Tanna Barnett of California. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Inurnment will be on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., in the Garnett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
