Obituary of James Edward Stone
James E. Stone, age 65, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011, at his home with his wife, step-daughter, and niece by his side.
James was born on September 30, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Marshall and Vivian (Farris) Stone. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967. James worked for All-Star Dairy, and then for the Lawrence Public Schools, retiring in 2009.
He was united in marriage to Mary Jo (Peine) on September 1, 1989 at Miami, Oklahoma.
James was a member of the City Council in Princeton, Kansas; American Legion Post # 0014; and he served on the Franklin County Fair Board. He enjoyed participating in demolition derby's; restoring cars; camping and boating.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Darrell Stone.
James is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Stone of the home; three daughters, Jennifer Whitworth of Lawrence, Kansas; Cassie Stone of Lawrence; Crystal Stone of Lawrence; one brother, Dennis Stone of Lawrence; one sister, Sharon Hinsley and companion Bill of Kimberling City, Missouri; step-daughter Glenda Sak of Princeton; four grandchildren, Keith and Allie Sak; Carter Stone; Montana Whitworth; numerous nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas; burial to follow in the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and left in care of the funeral home.
