Obituary of Virginia Lee Larson

Virginia Lee Larson, age 84, of Elsmore, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas. She was born September 30, 1927, the daughter of Roscoe and Lilly (Shelton) Tice. She graduated in 1944 from Moran High School, then received a teaching certificate after attending training in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Bernard LaMarr Larson in 1946 for 57 years until his death in 2003. Virginia worked and lived most of her adult life in the Elsmore area where she attended the United Methodist Church. She loved being a housewife, working in the garden, baking and cooking for her family and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Lilly Tice; her husband, Bernard Larson, and a son, Ronald Dean Larson. She is survived by two children, Regina Jamison and friend Bill Norris of Yates Center, Kansas; Roger Larson and wife Charlene of Elsmore, Kansas; two brothers, Donald Tice of Topeka, Kansas; Richard Tice and wife Mary of Ottawa, Kansas; one brother-in-law, Buford Larson and wife Joan of Elsmore, Kansas; four grandchildren, Lynetta Edds and husband Breck of Topeka, Kansas; Lee Larson and wife Amanda of Parkville, Missouri; Tristan Larson and wife Anne of Liberty, Missouri; and Ashley Moore and husband George of Highland, Kansas; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, and other relatives in the Elsmore and Moran area. Virginia loved her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the Elsmore United Methodist Church, Elsmore, Kansas. Burial to follow in the Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends on Tuesday evening, November 8, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Moran, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ronald Larson Memorial Scholarship Fund and left in care of the funeral home.
