Obituary of Edith C. Miller

Edith C. Miller, age 86, of Richmond, Kansas, died on Sunday, February 1, 2009, at the Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on October 30, 1922, at Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur B. Rockers and Hilda Katherine (Feuerborn) Rockers. She grew up in the Garnett area and attended the Junction School. Edith worked as a housekeeper for families in the Garnett area; she then worked for Cornett Manufacturing. She worked in the kitchen at the Anderson County Hospital before working at the Richmond Nursing Home in the kitchen for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Edith married Lyle Miller on November 22, 1951, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with two sons. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church at Scipio, and was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed watching Royals baseball and she loved her flowers. Edith was a wonderful cook and enjoyed shopping, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Lyle Miller, of the home; two sons, Andrew J. Miller and wife Georgia of Richmond, Kansas; Randall A. Miller and wife Regina of Garnett, Kansas; six grandchildren, Misty Roberts, Lisa Austin and husband Jason, Scott Miller, Catherine Miller, William Miller, and James Miller; one great grandchild, Ellen Austin; three brothers, Bill Rockers and wife Virginia of Columbus, Kansas; Les Rockers and wife Clara of Garnett, Kansas; Merle Rockers and wife Helen of Garnett, Kansas; three sisters, Colleen Gregory and husband Bob of Paola, Kansas; Lavon Mariz and husband Carl of Irvine, California; and Joella Rockers of Garnett, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Scipio, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009.
