To The Family:
Our friendship began when I wrote the thank you from our class in 1975. She went from Mrs. Cooper, to Kathryn, to finally Grandma Cooper.
By the age of 5, I had lost both my grandmothers. At age 16, I acquired a grandmother!! Thank you for sharing her with me for the past 36 years. This has been hard to write, many, many memories. This was sudden, I never dreamed it would be so hard. Dads' passing was strung out over 2 1/2 years and I still wasn't completely prepared.
She corresponded regularly with the Fords, Clintons, Doles, Carters, Reagans and both Bush families, yet she was down to earth. She was one in a million.
Mr. Swearingens' post summed it up well in a few sentences. I will add, in the face of adversity, she always kept going. A lesson in life we all could learn from.
She is now with Bill and the boys. God be with you till we meet again. I miss you so much Grandma Cooper.
