Obituary of Connie B. Hermreck

Connie B. Hermreck, age 77, of Garnett, died on Monday, January 19, 2009, at her home in Garnett, Kansas. Connie was born on October 28, 1931 in Richmond, Kansas, the daughter of M.C. "Bud" and Irene (Brown) Holloran. She grew up in the Garnett area, graduating from Garnett High School in 1949. She graduated from the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing, Pittsburg, Kansas in 1952. Connie was a Registered Nurse, working at the Anderson County Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 1991 as the director of nursing. She also worked as a nurse, part time, for Dr. Claib Harris for many years. She was united in marriage to Omer Hermreck on January 29, 1953 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children. Connie was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the Holy Angels Altar Society, Red Cross, Election Board, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Connie is survived by her husband, Omer Hermreck, of the home; her son, Collin Hermreck of Wichita, Kansas; four daughters, Christa Griffiths and husband Bob of Rawlins, Wyoming; Colette McDonnell and husband Richard of Garnett, Kansas; Courtney Hurley of Andover, Kansas; Cara West and husband Carl of Andover, Kansas; two sisters, Luquinn Marmon and husband John of Garnett, Kansas; Jorene Woods and husband Jim of Lawrence, Kansas; one brother, Charlie Holloran and wife Mary Lynn of Garnett, Kansas; Fourteen grandchildren; and Seven great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends following a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Holy Angels Church.
