Obituary of Barbara J. Deemer

Barbara J. Deemer, age 72, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Via St. Francis, Olathe, Kansas. She was born June 28, 1938, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil Robert Griffith and Ester Ruth Chamberlin. Her childhood years were spent in Wichita. Barbara married Harold Deemer on December 16, 1955 in Orange, Texas. Their service in the military took them to a variety of states in the United States, as well as Spain. She was a Biblical wife whose devotion to Christ and His teachings led her own husband to the Lord. Their 56 year marriage stood the test of time and was blessed with 7 children. She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Olathe Kansas. Barbara was a woman of strong Christian character, with a spirit of steadfastness. She battled cancer for 13 years and triumphed over it many times. She lived as a servant of the Lord Jesus, helping others with compassion, a loving heart, open hands and a warm smile. Barbara was a fervent prayer warrior, focusing on the salvation of her family and others. Her whole life was dedicated to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sorely missed. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ruth Griffith; and one brother, Cecil Robert Griffith Jr. She is survived by three sons, Jack Deemer and wife Teresa of Gardner, Kansas; Harold Deemer Jr. and wife Shirley of Overland Park, Kansas; John Deemer and wife Susan of Hillsboro, Oregon; four daughters, Barbara Kay Scobee of Princeton, Kansas; Debbie Wachtell of Olathe, Kansas; Brenda Stewart and husband C.J. of Olathe, Kansas; Susan Records and husband Daniel of Olathe, Kansas; two sisters, Delores Pollack and husband George of Edwardsville, Kansas; Mary Guenther and husband Neil of Lee's Summit, Missouri; 40 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 10:30 am, Monday April 18, 2011, with services following at 11:00 am. at Sharon Baptist Church, 13020 S. Black Bob Rd, Olathe, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church.
