Obituary of Tammy Sue Hughes

Tammy Sue Hughes, age 45, of Elsmore, Kansas passed away, Thursday, March 17, 2011 as the result of a car accident near Humboldt, Kansas. Tammy was born January 2, 1966 at Bremen, Indiana the daughter of Charles and Sharon (Denslow) Leckrone. She spent her early years in Simi Valley, California. In 1974 her family moved to Savonburg, Kansas. She graduated from Iola High School, Iola, Kansas in 1985. Following school she lived in Humboldt, Chanute, and Ark City, Kansas, where she met her future husband, John. Tammy and John moved to Colorado for a short period before returning to Ark City then to Thayer. They made their home in Erie in 1998. On March 17, 1999 Tammy married John Hughes at Parsons. In April 2010 they moved to their current residence at Elsmore. Tammy was a faithful member of the Stark Friends Church. She possessed a green thumb and took great joy in her plants and flowers. She enjoyed decorating their home and needlepoint, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and her family. Tammy was preceded in death by one grandson, Shawn Blevins Jr. She is survived by her husband, John, of Elsmore; three daughters, Helen Leckrone of Elsmore, Marie Culler of Wichita, and Tiffany Leckrone of Chanute; two grandchildren, Keair Ann Marie French and Scotty Alan Burkholder, Jr.; her mother, Sharon Denslow of Savonburg; her father, Charles Leckrone of LaGrange, Indiana; one brother, Chuck Leckrone of Savonburg; two sisters, Sherry Caudill and husband, James of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Kimberly Leckrone of Savonburg; and two nephews, Dustin and Dalton Caudill. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Stark Friends Church, 206 S Washington St, Stark, KS 66775. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Savonburg. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the church.
