Obituary of Matthew Miller

Matthew Thomas Miller, age 19, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019.  Matt was the second of three children born to Tom and Sharla (Heard) Miller.  He was born on January 20, 2000 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Matt grew up in Iola, attending school there, graduating with the Class of 2018.  He attended Allen Community College following high school.  Matt was currently working for Precision International of Iola.

Matt was known for his abundant humor, love and fun with family and friends.  He always was looking at the humorous side of things.  Matt wanted nothing more than his family and friends to be happy and have a good time, the “gentle giant” that everyone loved and wanted to make memories with.  He had a passion for basketball whether it be playing pickup games with his buddies, PS4, Fantasy Basketball League or watching his beloved Clippers.  He loved everything basketball.

He is survived by his father, Tom of Iola and his mother, Sharla of Iola; two sisters, Paige of Leawood, Kansas and Jenna of the home; grandparents, Richard and Dorothy Miller of Garnett and David and Mary Kay Heard of Iola; two uncles, John and Chris Heard of LaHarpe, Kansas and Scott and Robin Heard of Gilbert, Arizona; two aunts, Angela and Michael McSpadden of Houston, Texas and Nancy and Marty Klenda of Overland Park, Kansas; and his cousins and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Wesley United Church, Iola, Kansas.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, June 28, 2019, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas.  Memorials contributions are suggested to the Iola United Methodist Youth and may be left with the funeral home.
