Obituary of Herman Dale Jackman
Herman Dale Jackman, age 79, of Moran, Kansas, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, at the University of Kansas Health Systems, Kansas City, Kansas. Dale was born March 3, 1940 in rural Allen County to Herman D. Jackman and Florence (Gay) Jackman.
Dale graduated from Moran High School, where he enjoyed playing football. Dale met Elaine (Hawk) when they rode the school bus to LaHarpe, Kansas as school children. After high school Dale enlisted in the Marines, where he was stationed in San Diego, California at Camp Pendleton. While home on leave in 1959 he reunited with Elaine and they started dating. In 1961 Dale came home on leave again and on June 23, 1961, he and Elaine were married in LaHarpe, Kansas. After getting married Dale and Elaine made their way back to Camp Pendleton until December of that year. This union was blessed with four children.
Dale was very active in the Shriners, Masons and American Legion for over fifty years. He was also on the honor guard and firing squad for the American Legion for over ten years. Dale enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a heavy equipment operator doing conservation work for local farmers. Dale was always willing to help anyone in need, he enjoyed hard work, and loved telling stories. His calendar was always full with Monday night bingo, Wednesday night gun club, and horseshoe tournaments. Dale was a very devoted family man.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
Dale is survived by his wife of the home; four children Robert Jackman of Iowa, Mary Wagner and husband David of Wellsville, Ks, Jeannie Ramsey and husband David of Moran, Ks, Russell Jackman and wife Stacy of Linn Valley, Ks; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters; three brothers; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation for Dale will be Monday, June 10, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Venue. A celebration of life service for Dale will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US-HWY 54 Iola, Kansas 66749. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.
Memorials in honor of Dale can be made to Shriners Hospital, Virginia Masonic Lodge 315 in Savonburg, Kansas and the Jones-Hardy Post 385, these can be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
