Obituary of Ruby Ann Roush

Ruby A. Roush, age 67, of Gas City, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at her home. Ruby was born June 24, 1951 in Colony, Kansas to William Thompson and Mary (Yocham) Akin. Ruby was married to Larry Churning and this union was blessed with four children. They later divorced. On November 13, 2008, Ruby married Dan Roush in Chanute, Kansas, they made there home in Gas City, Kansas. Ruby worked as a CNA/CMA at local nursing homes and Allen County Regional Hospital.

Ruby loved to collect Indian artwork and figurines. Her dream car was a 1957 Chevy Bel Air in baby blue. Ruby loved to be outdoors and going hunting and fishing. Ruby never knew a stranger. She was very outspoken. Ruby loved her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren spoiling them any chance she got. Ruby enjoyed going to the casino, watching the Kansas City Royals, and watching soap operas. For many years, she was on the Friday night ladies bowling league.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Ruby Elnita; two step-daughters Samantha Jean, Dawn Danielle; two brothers Edward "Duck" Thompson, William Rex Allen Thompson; two sisters Billie June, Barbara Christine; one grandchild Avery Renee Churning.

Ruby is survived by her husband of the home; three sons William Churning and Cary King of Topeka, Ks, Larry Churning and Chelsea Almond, of Iola, Ks, Phil Churning and Cassie of Neosho Falls, Ks; one daughter Kristi Hoard and Jason of Fredonia, Ks; one step-daughter Rhonda Culp and Matthew of Iola, Ks; 14 grandchildren Rilea Spencer, Jennica, Jarett,and Myiah Churning, Emberlynne, and Amethyst Churning, Nevaeh, Adelynn, Phil Jr., Rex Allen Churning; Samantha George, Evee Hoard, Dakota Wynn, Levi Seilonen; two great-grandchildren Journey Wynn and Athena Seilonen; four sisters; three brothers; and numerous other relatives.

A funeral service for Ruby will be held Friday, May 31, 2019, 10:00 A.M. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US-Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas. Family will greet friends and loved ones Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Venue.
