Walter was one of a kind. We always looked forward to talking with him at family gatherings or seeing him at Prince of peace sometimes. He was a very kind and gentle man and will be greatly missed. I know he is smiling down from heaven and watch over his family. Please find peace in the Lord and know that we are thinking and praying for Linda and his children and Grandchildren.

Walter was the best central office administrator that I ever had the opportunity to work with as a high school principal.
He wisdom and suggestions were so much beyond what his job description required. He was a very compassionate man, who always kept his personal friendship and professionalism above anything else in life.....
A celebration to have known and work with him....
Walter, you kept the faith and won the battle....Peace be with you.

I followed Walter around Europe on three different trips. Walter opened the world for me because I continued my travels on 6 continents. None of my travels were as fun as with Walter leading the way. My sympathy to all of us left behind, but we have wonderful memories.

I am sorry to hear of Walter's illness and passing. I am a 1977 graduate of Olathe North High School and former German language student. Mr. Carter was a wonderful teacher with a great sense of humor. I have always regretted not going on one of the trips to Europe that he took the students on. He most certainly made a difference in the lives of many students! Keeping his family in my prayers.

I was one of many students in Walter's German classes of 1975-1976. He had a gift that not many people have...making learning FUN for adolescents. I never got bored listening to him coax us into dialogue. His style was almost like entertainment. I cherish my frequent and fond memories of this incredible teacher and mentor...

Walter had the best sense of humor and the most infectious laugh! Whenever you heard that laugh you immediately had a smile on your face. He lived life to the fullest and when in his presence you felt his kind and gentle spirit rub off on you just a little bit. The world is a better place because of this dear sweet man. The Angels in Heaven are rejoicing with his presence!

Mr. Carter! Thank you for your energy, generosity, invention, humor, discipline and acceptance. Your German class was a highlight of my school years. I loved your teaching, your improvisational ability to let us be ourselves and then incorporate that within your daily objectives. I am so grateful for your patience with me in my studies. I now have taught acting all over Germany and my ability to move through the country in their language is because of you. Thank you, my teacher.

My deepest sympathies to Linda and family. I was one year behind Walter at Maccochaque and Rosedale and later worked with him from 1977-80 at Olathe (North) High School. Walter was the consummate professional and a good friend. I will miss him.
