Obituary of Maxine R. Severns
Maxine R. Severns, age 108, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on April 13, 2019, in Hot Springs.
Maxine’s amazing life began in Allen County, Kansas, on February 26, 1911, as she was welcomed to the world by her late parents, John and Rey Reilly Roedel. Her parents quickly noted she was gifted with both personality and intelligence.
After graduating from Iola High School in Iola, Kansas, Maxine attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas. Pledging to Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, her college life was a bustling time of social and educational engagements. She graduated with a degree in education and spent many years as a well-loved teacher in the Kansas Public School system.
In 1937 Maxine married Ralford Severns. Together they retired to Hot Springs in 1974. The Severns were married for forty-two wonderful years when Ralford passed in 1979. Maxine stayed in Hot Springs. Maxine’s vibrant personality, witty intelligence, and amazing longevity have and will continue to inspire even after her services.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019, in the LaHarpe Cemetery, 2521 Nebraska Road, LaHarpe, Kansas. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas, is conducting the graveside service.
