Obituary of Carolyn J. Murphey

Carolyn J. Murphey, age 71, of Iola, Kansas, passed away March 15, 2019, at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas. Carolyn was born July 27, 1947, in Moran, Kansas, to Harry B. Mefford and Louise M. (Cox) Mefford.

Carolyn graduated from Elsmore High School. Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper for Midland Brake and Haldex in Iola. Carolyn and Gary Murphey knew each other for many years as friends while working at Midland Brake, and in 2001 Carolyn and Gary were joined in marriage in Humboldt, Kansas.

Carolyn always enjoyed talking with everyone and was known for always having a smile on her face. Carolyn loved to visit the senior center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and sometimes Fridays to play cards. She was always a support to others who had similar medical difficulties. Monthly she would attend a cancer support group, as she was a survivor of breast cancer.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Taylor Hamilton.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Gary, of the home; one son, Troy Spencer, Gas, Kansas; one daughter, Belinda Hamilton and husband, Ted, Iola, Kansas; three grandchildren, Paige, Brandon, and Austin; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Mefford; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services for Carolyn will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in honor of Carolyn are suggested to Bible Fellowship Church, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.
