Obituary of Louis Jerome Schomaker
Louis Jerome “Jerry” Schomaker, age 73, Frankfort, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. Jerry was born February 6, 1946, in Gas City, Kansas, to Louis Martin Schomaker and Emma Lou (Simmons) Schomaker.
Jerry attended Yates Center High School, Yates Center, Kansas, and later joined the Army National Guard, serving three years.
Jerry married Mary Fretz of Iola, and two children were born to that union. They later divorced. He then married Linda Caler of LaHarpe, Kansas, and three children were born to this union.
Jerry and Linda moved from Yates Center to Frankfort, Kansas, in 1975. Jerry worked as a mechanic, oil rigger, and retired as a custodian at Frankfort High School.
Jerry was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Yates Center, Moran American Legion and transferred to Frankfort American Legion, where he was a 32-year member.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, target practice, and loved to dance. Jerry was on two different bowling leagues, and they won several trophies over the years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and one daughter Laura.
Jerry is survived by his wife Linda of the home; sons Scott Schomaker (April) of El Paso, Texas, Doug Schomaker (April) of Marysville, Kansas, Sean Cook (Vivian) of Temple, Texas; daughter Shelli Hadley (Jim) of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother Ron Schomaker of Wichita, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Alyssa and Brayden Schomaker, Nathan Alleger, Bodi, Casey and Kenny Ray Caes, Harle, Jennah, Szak and Trinity Cook; two step-grandsons Rey and Leauie; two step-granddaughters Alexis and Sydney; eight great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson; one brother-in-law Roy Caler (Connie) of LaHarpe, Kansas; one sister-in-law Janice Caler of Valrico, Florida; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation for Jerry will be Wednesday March 13, 2019 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service for Jerry will be held Thursday March 14, 2019 10:30A.M., at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 Us-Hwy 54 Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in St. Martins Cemetery, Piqua, Kansas.
Pallbearers included Ron, Ryan, Frank, and Marty Schomaker, Roy Caler, Ken Jones, Michael Bryan, and Jim Haskins.
