Obituary of Jackie A Zehner

Jackie A. Zehner, age 74, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, in Peabody, Kansas. Jackie was born July 5, 1944 in Iola, Kansas to Francis W. Southard and Carolyn Mapes Yoho. Jackie grew up in Iola. Her family moved to Kansas City while she was in high school. Jackie graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1962 and then attended cosmetology school in Kansas City. In 1962 Jackie married William Burke, two sons were born to this union, Scott and Mike. They later divorced. Jackie worked as a hairdresser in Kansas City for a few years and then continued to use her skills throughout the rest of her life. In 1967 Jackie married, Ronnie Burns, two children were born to this union, Shawn and Stephanie. They later divorced. In 1974 Jackie married Frank Zehner and they relocated to Gas, Kansas, where they raised their family. They enjoyed 19 years together, travelling and enjoying life until Frank's death in 1993. Jackie worked for many years as an Activity Director in Iola area nursing homes. Jackie loved some of the people in her family, and she enjoyed her time with her great-grandchildren. Those great grandchildren were almost loved more than her dogs. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her parents; daughter Stephanie Burns in 2002; and two grandsons, Benjamin Burke in 2011 and Jason Burke in 2006. Jackie is survived by three sons, Scott Burke and wife, Regina of Newton, Kansas, Mike Burke and Shelly Stone of Piqua, Kansas and Shawn Burns of McAlester, Oklahoma; one stepson, Craig Zehner, Osage City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathy Wagner and husband, Paul of Belle Gray, Montana. Funeral services for Jackie will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, Kansas 1883 US-Hwy 54. Burial will follow at the Gas city Cemetery, Gas, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 9:00 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home.
