Was so surprised and sad to hear of Gene's passing. I always had the greatest respect of him from our judging team days. Even though our paths didn't often cross after graduating from K- State I will really miss seeing him the next time I attend a reunion.

I never met Gene face to face . We talked at length about Limousin cattle breeding and I have bought semen on several of his bulls. He came across as a knowledgeable cattleman and a straight shooter. I am saddened by his passing.

I met Gene in 1970 when a group of us farmers were putting together a large (by that days standards) swine production unit near Homewood. We were partners for 16 years. I enjoyed everyday I got to talk and work with Gene. Words that come to mind when describing Gene are : honest, ethical, friendly, smart, hard working, neighborly, a man who loved his family, his neighbors, his livestock and life. We didn't stay in touch over the years other than a chance meeting here and there, but I have so much respect for what Gene and Virginia represent in the human spirit. His passing is a shock to me and he will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace my friend as we all remember your wonderful spirit. Virginia may you and the family be comforted by all the memories you shared over these hard working but fun and successful years. Love you.

as I reflect back on my life, as I am now considered 'old'...I remember all the 'Special' people that I have known. Gene Raymond was a Blessing in that 'Special' group. I don't have room here to say how much he meant to us, but our family cherished Gene Raymond. In the Latin mass, there is a saying "Dominus vo biscum"...it means ' Lord be with you' …..I know he is. Thank You for the friendship, Gene...…..this hurts

Really good picture of Gene....it's how I picture him. Ornery twinkle in his eye & a smile on his face.
Usually had a laugh whenever he got his haircut. One time tho had an upset little 4 year old girl whose mom was freaking out over her boyfriend. I knew she liked cowboys & I told her Gene was a cowboy! She looked at his shoes....no boots!
Gene was so good talking to her & helping make her feel better & telling her yes he had boots!
Sorry for your loss

Virginia, Diane, Stacey, Kathy, Arne and families, I am so sorry for our loss. I thought the world of Gene. In 4-H when we did the farm tours us triplets would always drag out some blind, big-gutted bucket calf and Gene always told us it looked like a purple ribbon. He helped me judge cattle in Ag class. I would go to the house and we would sit on the couch and I would place cattle. His laugh was the best. He was always the brightest light in the room. I loved to see him in the feed truck and it just won't be the same now. He was a good man, great neighbor and mentor. And I will never forget him telling the girls to get their hand off the back of the saddle and hold it like they were holding a glass of water. His chores are done now. Rest in peace friend.

Well when Paula and I moved into the neighborhood 28 years ago we never realized how blessed we would be with some of the finest neighbors you could ever ask for. Zentner's, Raymond's, Feuerborn's, Maders and Rockers took to us like we had known them our whole lives. Gene and I had a mutual respect for each other as we both worked hard and long hours. Many Days on my way to town I met my friend at the feed lot and we exchanged waves. Much later in the day we would meet each other in just about the same place as I was headed home. Not sure he ever realized how comfortable and safe it made us feel to know that people like him were in the neighborhood. His smile and grin I will never forget and I have a hard time not grinning right now thinking about him. I had the pleasure of feeding him lunch many times and was thankful for his business. His generosity and service to our community were and will continue to be an inspiration for me and many others. May the light of Christ shine upon all of his family in the days to come.
Peace be with you my friend. Your work here is done.
With Christ's love as an example we too shall carry on.
