Another member of The Greatest Generation has passed on. Willis was a neat person that inspired many folk thru the years. He set examples in his every day life that that so many people remember. He was one in a million.
I especially enjoyed his recounting of his Honor Flight to Washington, DC. So many veterans never are able to make the trip. When he wrote of WWII he was stationed in some of the same places as my father. They were the same age. Dad only made it to age 85. Both were Company Commander & Quarter Master several years in a row.
We will miss him, but he will be forever in our hearts and memories. He was an American hero and lived a full life dedicated to being a Red, White & Blue American.
We all could learn many lessons from this humble soul. May he rest in peace. He truly was one in a million.
Betty Pierson & Family, Emporia.

Willis was a stable at Post 385, Moran. I always called him my "boyfriend" as he sold me cards to play at bingo. He will always be a fond memory to me. Bless Gene and Nancy for their care of Willis. He will be missed by all.C7P5d

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Willis was our mailman for years when I was growing up. Every Christmas my mom would make candies and breads and cookies and we would make him up a goodie package and I remember I was so excited to put in the mailbox for him. As a child this was something special to me because he would always leave a sweet thank you note for me. He was a good man and I will forever have fond memories of him. Prayers to you all.
