Obituary of Gina Lorraine Best

Gina Lorraine (Queen) Best, age 53, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Gina was born on March 25, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas.  God blessed Gary and Betty (Shmalfeldt) Queen with Gina.  She grew up in Iola, Kansas, where she made many longtime friends.  Gina was a free spirit and giving person that was loved by many.  She was known by her friends as “Queenie” and will be deeply missed and cherished by all that knew her.  Gina was an avid Harley rider, and achieved one of her lifetime dreams by going to Sturgis.  Gina never knew a stranger.

Gina cherished her two daughters, Bridget and Brittany, and adopted son Jason.  Gina’s grandchildren were her heart and joy.

She is survived by her father, Gary Queen of Paola, Kansas; biological mother Beverly J. Smith of Enid, Oklahoma; two daughters, Bridget Best and Nick Parker of Iola, Kansas, Brittany Swank and husband, Mark of Pittsburg, Kansas; adopted son Jason Outlan of Moran, Kansas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kloie Rogers of Iola, Kansas, Kaden and Kane Swank of Pittsburg, Kansas, Patricia Outlan of Moran, Kansas, and Myleigh Easlick of Branson, Missouri; brothers, Mike Queen and wife, Jacki of Iola, Kansas, Steven Queen of Paola, Kansas, Allen Smith of Grand Junction, Iowa; sisters, Diana and Julie Smith of Enid, Oklahoma, Billi Smith of Grand Junction, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Gina was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Queen; infant daughter, Courtney Best; and brother Gib Smith.

A Celebration of Life Service for Gina will be held at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy. 54, Iola, Kansas, at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 7, 2018.  Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola.  The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
