Obituary of Gregory & Nancy Brown

Gregory Irvin Brown, age 72, passed away Wednesday, November 07, 2018, at Yates Center Health and Rehabilitation, Yates Center, Kansas. Greg was born September 29, 1946, in Emporia, Kansas, to Irvin Brown and Thelma Haas Brown.

Greg and Nancy Mansfield were married August 27, 1982, in Yates Center, Kansas. Greg and Nancy had one son, Garrett Brown, who was born October 15, 1983, and passed away May 10, 1984. Nancy preceded Greg in death on November 25, 2006.

Greg graduated in 1964 from the Gridley High School, Gridley, Kansas. He furthered his education at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas. Greg then attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri, where he earned a doctorate in chiropractic medicine.

Greg and his parents owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Yates Center, Kansas, for many years. Greg worked as a plumber for a number of years in Yates Center. Greg spent most of his life being a caregiver to others.

Greg was preceded in death by his wife; his infant son; and his parents.

Greg is survived by his companion, Tammy Coday, of the home; one sister, Cecilia Benteman and husband, Larry, Yates Center, Kansas; sister-in-law, Marie Davidson and husband, Mike, Durango, Colorado; brother-in-law, Charles Mansfield and wife, Donna, Cottonwood, Arizona; nephews, Matthew Benteman and wife, Lisa, Yates Center, Kansas, Lance Mansfield, Tucson, Arizona; nieces, Kimberly Hart and husband, Chris, Benton, Kansas, Annette Benteman and significant other, Philip Ngunjiri, Yates Center, Kansas, Juliana Strode and husband, Michael, Yates Center, Kansas, Sarah Maria and husband, Tony, Evansville, Indiana, Leslie Lynch and husband, John, Portland, Oregon, Holly Ball and husband, Charles, North Carolina; great-nieces, Elisabeth Benteman, Cecille Ngunjiri, Emilie Benteman, Genevieve Strode, Elena Maria, Jocelyn Maria, Rose Steele; great-nephews, Ayden Hart, Benjamin Strode, Theodore Strode, Isaac Steele, Sam Lynch, Brody Ball; and numerous other relatives.

 

                                 Joint Memorial Service For Greg & Nancy Brown

 

It was the request of Greg and Nancy Brown to have their memorial services at the same time. Therefore, Greg and Nancy will be honored and remembered with a joint memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola, Kansas.

The family will meet and greet friends and relatives immediately following the memorial service in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.

Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, in the Yates Center Cemetery, 1324 - 120th Road, Yates Center, Kansas.

Nancy Mansfield Brown, age 63, passed away on November 25, 2006, at the Neosho Memorial Hospital, Chanute, Kansas. Nancy was born on September 25, 1943, in Eureka, Kansas, to Floyd Mansfield and Hazel Bratton Mansfield.

Nancy taught art in the Yates Center school district for 32 years. She touched countless lives and always encouraged her students to excel. Nancy was known for her kindness, loving heart, and helping others.
