Margaret was my Student Teaching Mentor at Humboldt Elementary 4th grade. She was the best instructor I had during my college career. I am so glad she was chosen for me. After I had my own job teaching at Colony(Crest Elementary) we kept in touch. My children went to her house in Gas for Halloween so we could catch up on her children and grandchildren activities. She was so proud of her family. She made me the best teacher I could be, went on to get my masters in Elementary Reading, because she encouraged me to do so. She had worked with my mother-in-law as a teacher, so she was like part of my family. I wish I could have been there to meet all of you yesterday, to put the names with the faces. Unfortunately, I had an accident and injured my knee to the point I need surgery and not able to get out at this time. Bless all of you with prayers of healing and memories that will last a lifetime.

So very sorry to learn of Mrs. Grants passing.
She was a wonderful friend and teacher who taught me alot. I had her as a teacher at Zillah school and she was my favorite. She was so sweet and nice and I loved her and loved being in her class and loved school when she was there.
I always wanted to grow up to be just like her.
I'm so sorry I'm not able to attend her visitation or her service . Thanks for sharing her with me all of these years. I'm 53 years old now and proud to be her student
Thanks you thoughts and prayers. God bless

To the family of Mary Margaret Grant,
I am the former Superintendent of Schools in Humboldt, KS. I had the opportunity to work with Margaret. She was a wonderful teacher and a good person. I went to visit her while she was residing in the nursing home and had a good visit.
Thoughts to the family on your loss.

Was so VERY SORRY to hear of Mrs. Grant's passing. She was one of my favorite teachers at Zillah school. I stopped to visit her several months ago and found she was still very alert and just as gentle and loving as I remembered. Blessings and peace to you and your family. They broke the mold when they made her, and she has touched so many lives and made a positive difference in them ALL!

Mrs. Grant was my teacher at Zillah in 1964 when Pres. Kennedy was killed. She was a wonderful role model. I adored her! After moving back to S E Ks, I was able to see her again in 2012 and it was as if she had not changed in all those years. In fact, I became a teacher and taught for 39 years because of amazing teachers like her. The world is a better place for her having been in it!

I admired this wonderful woman for her giving attitude in helping countless students achieve their dreams. Her warm smile and encouraging words could inspire confidence in most any child. She embodied in word and deeds the absolute definitive meaning of the term "educator".
I cherish my friendship throughout the years with her son Wiley. We were classmates in the "great class of IHS 1961" and share many memories. Kit and I extend our deepest sympathies to the family.
Unfortunately, I will be out of town for the visitation and services but wanted to share just how many beautiful memories will be forever etched in my heart. Ken McGuffin

Mrs. Grant would make her way to the dining area to interact with my Service Learning class which visited residents twice per week. She was always patient and kind to my students and me. She spoke often of car pooling to Emporia State College with her friend and my mother, Arlene Jones, as they both worked to earn their master's degree. She spoke of the son that traveled with them who gave my mother the nickname hurricane Arlene after current hurricane Arlene in motion at that time. Heaven has gained another angel!
