Obituary of Wilma I. Goodell

Wilma Goodell, age 92, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. She was born December 20, 1925, in Mont Ida, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Nora (Moyer) Smith. Wilma graduated from Colony High School with the Class of 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, Weldon Dean Goodell, on December 12, 1943 in Iola, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children. Wilma stayed active in the community, including Charter member of the Jolly Dozen Club, worked as a Postal clerk in Colony, an income tax consultant and had a love for rodeo and the Colony sports activities. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, and spending time with her family. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Weldon Goodell on July 6, 2017; two sisters, Leta Ruth Smith and Lois Marie Smith. She is survived by her children, Bill Goodell and wife Phyllis of Colony, Kansas; Marie Plinsky and husband Dave of Topeka, Kansas; Carolyn Schwab and husband Terry of Newton, Kansas; Dean Goodell and wife Lesa of Ottawa, Kansas; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at High Point Cowboy Church, 204 E. 4th, Colony, Kansas, with burial following at Colony Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday evening at The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US 54 Hwy, Iola, Kansas.
