I don't know if anybody ever reads these things, but I needed to add to this. Way back in the early two thousands we had totaled our Honda Civic and decided to go ahead and fix the car. NOBODY would come out and do an estimate on a cash job EXCEPT for Mark. He came out and did an estimate, and then did the work even though it was a tough job. We really appreciate that. He has had our auto body work ever since. We still own and drive that car today. Mark told us to try Penka Automotive for car repairs and we regularly bring jobs out for both businesses. Mark will be greatly missed, but I know that his family will carry on the tradition of going out of their way to help people.

We all are very sadden in the automotive industry to lose such a great man. It was very easy to like Mark, with that big smile and always friendly demeanor. In our profession you can tell which owners truly care about their customers and Mark was
one of, if not the best at doing that. We will all miss talking with him. Our condolences go out to all your family. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

Mark was a man of many values and beliefs. For years I had many dealings with Mark thru my job. He stood for honesty and integrity in every transaction or meeting we had. Personally he was a outstanding individual that I could count to have a smile on his face every time I saw him. Mark had a band. I talked them into playing at one of my birthday which still today has to be one of the best birthday I can remember. Mark is simply a person you can rely on and look up to do what was right. You cross paths with a person in your life that leaves a lasting impression on you. No matter what you will always remember that person. Mark was that person for me. My deepest condolences go out to the family for their loss.

There are no words that anyone can say that will really help at a time like this. You will all have to grieve in your own ways, and only time helps to diminish the pain and sense of loss you feel right now. Mark was loved, liked and respected by many people. I appreciated his honesty, integrity and sense of humor. He will be missed. May the passage of time and the grace of God bring you peace.

Laurie, Jacob, Matthew, Michaela and Families - Mark will be greatly missed by all that knew him! He was a great man! Faith-filled, loving, caring and kind! I will miss seeing him every Sunday at church and that "Hey, how you doing?" or "You know, you really need to clean the inside of your windshield someday!" (it still needs cleaned):-). For awhile during Laurie's illness almost every Saturday morning it seemed we would meet in the grocery aisle at Wal-Mart and we said we should either just start carpooling or send our list with each other. Anytime I had a car "incident" or some bizarre thing would pop off my car, I knew I could stop and Mark would take care of it, "Anything for you" he always said.
Although we weren't ready for him to go he is finally at peace and in no more pain!
Until we meet again my friend!

Many years later, I enjoyed listening to Mark, Brad and the other members of Bittersweet. If my car ever needed work, it went to Mark. His honesty and kindness were unique. Not qualities you find in everyone but Mark possessed them and more. He did the most he could to help anyone and everyone. I lay thinking of a great man, a family man, a man loved by his community. A man that took pride in what he did at all times and a man that showed compassion to me and my family at our lowest time. He drew a cherished picture and presented it to us at our darkest hour. It sets framed in our house today and there will remain one of my most prized possessions until I join him in the great land of promise. My heart hurts for all who knew him and any condolences I have for his loving family will never be enough to show my gratitude to this great man and his family. Laurie, Jacob, Matthew, and Michaela,
My Dad called to tell me of this awful news. Such a tragic loss to his family and the Richmond/Scipio community. I can only hope he is at peace now because he was such a great man to so many people as you can tell from these condolences that are being written. It makes me sad just thinking about him. I am glad I got the opportunity to know you and him better when I was working out with him after work at the body shop, jamming to some classic rock while he would knock out the lyrics, (he rubbed off on me thats all I listen to now!) and him being Mark- giving me advice about life and just talking about some deep subjects. That was the best shape physically I had ever been in so thank you Mark for all of those good memories and the time we shared. You could always trust in the work that was done at Richmond body works as well. Just good people trying to make a living. My most heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with your entire family as you grieve. RIP old friend it was an honor knowing such a good man.

What started as a business relationship became friendship. He truly was a great man. Always willing to help you whenever you needed it. His sons are the same way.
