Shirley enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling.  She and Dale went on many bus trips, with Branson being her favorite. She grew up on the family farm and enjoyed spending time there, making a trip there every Sunday when the kids were little.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dorothy Welsh; one daughter, Krista Hastert Barry; and one brother, Charles Ray Welsh.
