Obituary of Joseph M. Peine
Joseph M. Peine, age 81, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at the Anderson County Hospital.
Joseph Maurice Peine was born on December 7, 1936 at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Maurice Joseph and Marie Evelyn (Otten) Peine. He was a lifelong resident of Greeley, graduating from Greeley High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Wilma Lickteig on June 24, 1967, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. This marriage was blessed with seven children. Joe worked as a pipe fitter at Taylor Forge in Paola, and later at BEHM in Greeley for several years, in addition to his farming. He began farming with his father and, later joined by his brother, Tom. Joe farmed throughout his life until his health would no longer allow in 2013. His family and friends brought him countless hours of joy, attending grandchildren's events or spending time in the barn with friends. Joe was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He served on local boards and committees over the years, some of which included Soil Conservation, Bank of Greeley, St. John's Church and School, and the Anderson County Fair Board. Joe enjoyed 4-H as a youngster and carried on the tradition with his children while they participated in numerous cattle shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie Clovis and Roberta Thomas; sister-in-law, Marcia Peine; two brothers-in-law, Jim Clovis and Mike Thomas.
Joe is survived by his wife, Wilma Peine, of the home; two sons, Doug Peine of Garnett, Kansas and David Peine and wife Ami of Overland Park, Kansas; five daughters, Debbie Ray and husband Dan of Shawnee; Diana Feuerborn and husband Shawn of Greeley; Denise Rockers and husband Bob of Greeley; Donna Rockers and husband Troy of Garnett; Danell Wheat and Dustin Rockers of Greeley; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild, and one more on the way; two sisters, Patty Owings of Wellsville, Kansas, and Judy Brock and husband Gary of Lenexa, Kansas; and brother, Tom Peine of Greeley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018, at St. John's Catholic Church, Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. John's Cemetery, Greeley. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening at St. John's Church, followed by visitation in the St. John's Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose School and left in care of the funeral home.
