Obituary of Sheldon Lee Jones
Sheldon Lee Jones, age 57, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
He was born on December 15, 1960, in Garnett, Kansas. Sheldon was the second of four children born to Roscoe Jones and Beverley (Teter) Nobles. Sheldon attended/survived school, starting at Greeley then Irving Elementary and Garnett High School. He was known to be a frequent visitor to the office. During high school he worked at the Galey Processing Plant and for a while following school. He later attended Garden City Community College while working in the area as a carpenter. In 1983 Sheldon returned to Garnett, working for Steuber Contruction, Jack Morrison Welding, and in the oil fields for Roger Kent before going to work as a union carpenter. Sheldon's carpenter career spans nearly 30 years, working primarily for John Rohrer Construction. Sheldon was united in marriage to Deadra Phipps on October 2, 1993, at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas. In addition to his work, Sheldon also enjoyed taking care of his cattle and hay operation. He was a member of Local Union 315. Sheldon enjoyed quail hunting, and training his dogs. He also enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his Roadhouse friends. His greatest joy was his family; he was a proud father and grandfather, who delighted in his family's accomplishments and activities. His sense of humor and ornery personality will be missed by all who knew him.
Sheldon was preceded by his father and his step-father, Frank Nobles.
