Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Thornhill

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Thornhill, age 78, of Iola, Kansas, passed at her home on July 22, 2018. Betty was born on May 21, 1940, in Ogdensburg, New York, to Hilton Wylie and Dorothy (Steele) Wylie.

Betty graduated high school in Buffalo, New York. She and Carl Thornhill were married on April 21, 1966, in Iola, Kansas.

Betty worked at H. L. Miller and Son dress factory for many years and then as a secretary for Loraine Cleaver Oil Company for over 20 years.

Betty enjoyed flower gardening and spending time outdoors. She loved having cookouts and being with friends and family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Ronald Wylie, Sr., Donald Wylie, Sr., and Richard Wylie; and one daughter, Cyndi Folk.

Betty is survived by companion, Marvin McCullough, Iola; two daughters, Tina Kelley and husband, Bryan, Piqua, and Sandra Sotomayor and husband, Alex, Port Angeles, Washington; brother-in-law, Harold Thornhill, Iola; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Wylie, Buffalo, New York; seven grandchildren, Tyler Cole, Piqua, Elizabeth Kelley, Piqua, Amber Lawrence and husband, Jake, Hampstead, North Carolina, Jessica Chapman, Iola, Savanna Chapman, Surf City, North Carolina, Cletus Kathol and wife, Casey, Seattle, Washington, and Claire Kunkler and husband, Rick, Seattle, Washington; nine great-grandchildren; and Benny Mac, her beloved dog companion.

A private family graveside inurnment honoring Betty's life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.
