Obituary of Leslie Eugene Andres

Leslie Eugene Andres, age 67, passed away June 13, 2018, at his home near Pleasanton, Kansas.

 

Gene was born on March 15, 1951, in Iola, Kansas, to Lyle Andres and Virginia Stokes Andres. Gene graduated from the Moran High School in 1969. Gene enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country for four years.

 

Gene married Rebecca Johnson on July 24, 1999, in Iola, Kansas.

 

Gene worked for Nelson Quarries for years, retiring in 2011.

 

Gene's family was always his number one priority. Gene always put his family first. He was a great teacher of life. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #15, Iola, Kansas, and he was a long-time member of the LaHarpe VFW. Gene was an avid reader, and he loved watching the History Channel on TV. He was known for his collection of ball caps. Gene loved the KU Jayhawks.

 

Gene is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Preston Andres and wife, Dosha, Ft Scott, Kansas, and James Andres, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; one daughter, Wendi Andres, Nevada, Missouri; one brother, Ronald Andres and partner, Sarah, Lufkin, Texas; two sisters, Phyllis McCullough and husband, Claude, Elk City, Kansas, and Joyce Foster and husband, Mike, Coffeyville, Kansas; two sisters-in-law, Pam Andres, Edgerton, Kansas, and Marilyn Andres, Gas City, Kansas; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous other relatives.

 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Connie Andres; two brothers, Richard Andres and Leonard Andres; and one grandson.

 

The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., all at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola, Kansas.
