Obituary of James F. Cannon

James Franklin Cannon, Jr., age 86, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on May 2, 2018.

He was born November 12, 1931, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of James F. Franklin Sr. and Mary Lucinda Barndt Cannon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ofelia Dolores (Dee) Ornelas, whom he married on April 25, 1958. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Lucille Cannon Phillips and brother, Joseph Blair Cannon.

Jim graduated from Garnett High School in 1951. He honorably served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed in aviation services throughout his life, and spent 26 years working for Trans World Airlines (TWA).

Jim is survived by four nieces, Mary Lucinda Cannon Gibson of Sharpsburg, Georgia; Patricia Lucille Phillips Kani of Newnan, Georgia; Beverly Ann Phillips Pierce of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Sara Jo Cannon Vasquez of Tucson, Arizona; his dear friend and caregiver, Carol Prather of Richmond, Kansas.

Jim was a life member of the Anderson County Historical Society and Museum. He and Carol often volunteered there. He was a member of the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg Club, Inc., the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association and Power of the Past.
