Obituary of Ella "Dean" Dollene Jackman

Ella Dollene “Dean” Jackman, age 91, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Heartland Meadows in Iola.

Ella was born November 28, 1926 near Moran, Kansas; the daughter of Walter Daniel and Ella Mahala (Tinsley) Stanley. She was the youngest of eight children and the final survivor of her family.  She was baptized in the Baptist Church, and then later joined the First Christian Church in Humboldt, Kansas, where she attended for many years.  She spent many good times fishing, picnicking, and swimming with her brothers and sisters.  During the depression years, she, her mother and sisters took eggs and cream to town to get groceries in the buggy.

In 1946 she married Marvin D. Jackman and to this union eight children were born.  They divorced in 1969.

Ella was preceded in death by three daughters, Marita Dollene at birth, Connie Drybread and Cindy Catterson; great-grandson Jace Everett Ator; her parents, Walter and Ella Stanley; three brothers, Harlan G., Samuel S. and Cline W. Stanley; and four sisters, Lucinda H. Beaman Nelson, Eula C. Carrick, Trecia E. Masters, and Blanche Powell Cox.

She is survived by three sons, Dan Jackman and wife, Margaret of Moran, Kansas, Gregory (Greg) Jackman and wife, Terri of Colony, Kansas, Jeffery (Jeff) Jackman of Eddyville, Iowa; three daughters, Sheryl A. Wardle of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brenda Swanson and husband, Jerry of Elsmore, Marlene Humphrey and Steve Rothwell of Lawrence, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 13, 2018, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Kansas.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, April 12, 2018, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and may be left with the funeral home.  Condolences may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
