Obituary of George Leroy Fuhrman

George Leroy Fuhrman, age 81, of Moran, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his home. Leroy was born July 24, 1936, in Fort Scott, Kansas, to George Leslie Fuhrman and Bertha Augusta Perry Fuhrman. Leroy married Luella Mae Diebolt Bradford on August 11, 1978, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, Kansas. Leroy graduated from the Blue Mound High School. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. Leroy was a founder and original member of the board of Bourbon County Rural Water District No. 4 from its beginning until his retirement in 2018. He was a founding member of the Bronson Ruritan Club, where he had perfect attendance for 50 years. Leroy was a farmer and rancher his entire life. He drove a school bus for 22 years for Marmaton Valley USD 256. He was known for his kindness, honesty, hard work, and his generosity. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Luella, on March 27, 2017; his parents; and sister-in-law, Deanna Fuhrman. He is survived by his children, Susan Lewis and her husband, Doug, Moran; Sherry Henry, Moran; Roger Bradford, Bronson; Sandra Ellefsen, Marshall, Missouri; Debbie Jones and husband, Jeff, Paola; his sister, Helen Rife and husband, Sam, Bronson; two brothers, Harley Fuhrman and his wife, Beverly, Bronson; DeWayne Fuhrman, Bronson; nine grandchildren, Tyler Lewis, Lawrence; Tanner Lewis, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Morgan Henry, Alexander, Arkansas; Ashton Troxel, Lubbock, Texas, Gabriel Ellefsen, Marshall, Missouri, Vincent, Maximus, Grady, and Ella Jones, Paola; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral home will be open at 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 1, and the family will greet friends and relatives from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 1, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am, Monday, April 2, with a funeral service following at 10:30 am at St. John's Catholic Church, Iola. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery.
