Obituary of Michael E Johnson

Michael Eric Johnson, age 62, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, losing his battle to cancer at Yates Center Health and Rehab Center in Yates Center, Kansas. He was born March 23, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Ward and Jean (White) Johnson. Michael graduated from Wichita South High with the Class of 1973. He spent 15 years at Beech Aircraft in Wichita in the experimental woodworking shop. After moving to Pittsburg, Kansas in 1993, he worked for Able Body continuing in the woodworking field. Most recently he was employed by Joplin Community Support Services where he was a caregiver. On May 27, 1976, his first daughter, Erica Renee was born in Wichita. He married Valorie Lynn Burnett on November 20, 1982 in Wichita. This union was blessed with two daughters, Lacey Dawn and Chelsey Taylor. Throughout his life he enjoyed country music, boating, collecting antique guns and spending time outdoors with family and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Johnson. He is survived by three daughters, Erica Switzer and husband Erin of Tucson, Arizona; Lacey Brown and husband J of Kansas City, Missouri; Chelsey Wilson and husband Britton of Shawnee, Kansas; three grandchildren, Cole and Emma Switzer, and Logan Brown; and a blessing to be born in April, Everett Wilson; his father, Ward Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Gary Johnson and wife Brenda of Wichita, Kansas; and a host of other family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Friday, March 23, 2018, at The Venue, 1883 US Hwy 54, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, in Iola, Kansas.
