My Broken Soul

It was a regular day, kids fed ready for napping
When everything changed, two sheriff officers at my door changing what was the norm
Knew this day would come, but not today
Oh my broken and bleeding soul screaming on the inside quiet composed on outside
Calling our children to change the ways of things for them also
Time, Time, Time where did it go not enough time but please not today
Kids together finding out facts not believing not wanting to believe
Oh my broken soul still bleeding, screaming, on the inside
Plans to be made and believing little more but believing even more
Oh my God my broken soul now have to believe heart pounding dizzy have to be strong
Services set, clothes for farewell chosen daughters and Mom in agreement
Oh my broken soul, bleeding slowed and screaming has started to quiet , on the inside
An outpouring of friends and food keeping family busy not thinking
Old friends new friends kids, grandkids and family all sharing this heavy, heavy load
Oh my wounded soul quiet , quieter , still now for the moment
We lost a loved one so dear, always busy going coming but danced with his daughters, held all the babies
was a husband for almost 35 years , gone but not gone for he is in hearts and memories, school programs and ball games always there, birthday parties and family gatherings he will still live on in the faces of grandsons and granddaughter , look in their faces he is there
Oh my wounded heart with time will heal, gone not forgotten , only the earthly body gone but heavenly body above still watching out for his family.

Hearing this tragic news broke my heart. I will always remember how hard you worked, how strong of person you were and how much we all looked to you for a smile, a funny golf story and in many ways your strength.
