Obituary of Eula Eileen Eggers

Eula Eileen Eggers, 91, of Chanute, Kansas passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Guest Home Estates in Chanute. She was born August 21, 1926 in Capron, Oklahoma to Earl Elmer and Mamie Daisy (Mitchell) Gray. She was raised at Capron on the farm northeast of town. She graduated from Capron High School in 1945. She married Bethel Adams in Capron on June 23, 1945. They made their home west of Hardtner, Kansas before moving in 1956 to a farm west of Humboldt. They moved to LeRoy, Kansas in 1961. He passed away in June 1973. She married Ernest M. Eggers at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt on March 17, 1974. Together they made their home in Humboldt. He preceded her in death in 2009. She worked as a cook for the LeRoy schools, and worked at Parmley Egg farm. She also worked at Yates Center Sewing Factory for five years. She is survived by a son, Ernest E. Adams and wife, Kim, of Chanute, a daughter, Janette Stoll and husband, Terry, of Chanute, stepsons, Henry Eggers and wife, Sandi, of Yates Center, and Roger Eggers and wife, Denise, of Topeka, stepdaughters, Sue Poor and husband, Ron, of Anthony, Kansas, son in law, Kenneth Herder of Chanute; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; sister Paula Hesler of Las Lunas, New Mexico, and sisters in law, Beverly Gray of Fulton, Missouri and Marsha Gray of Buffalo, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepdaughter, Margaret Herder, brothers, Esten, Ivan, Armond and Ovid Gray, sisters, Lovetta Harrington, Leora Holland, and Etha Benson, brothers in law, Ed Harrington, Hugh Holland, Harold Benson and Keith Hesler. A memorial service for Eula will be 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, with the church conducting the service. Inurnment will take place later at Alva, Oklahoma. Contributions in her memory are suggested to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
