Obituary of Myrtle May "Becky" Stafford

Myrtle May "Becky" (Thomas) Stafford, age 98, of Moran, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Moran Manor, Moran, Kansas.

 

She was born April 19, 1919, in Elk Falls, Kansas, the daughter of John Riley and Hazel May (Wilson) Beck. Becky grew up in Chanute, Kansas and married Glen F. Thomas. They made their home east of Humboldt where they ran a dairy. He preceded her in death. She then moved to Moran and married Fred Stafford, making their home southwest of Moran. He preceded her in death.

 

Becky was a member of the Moran Christian Church, Moran B.P.W., American Legion Auxiliary in Iola, Past President of Moran B.P.W., Eastern Star of Moran, ACH Auxiliary, and a 4-H Leader for many years.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Gene Thomas; parents, John and Hazel Beck; two sisters, Vera Montgomery and Mary Ethel Smith; two brothers, Clifford Beck and Thurman Beck; and an infant brother.

 

Becky is survived by one sister, Alberta Searcy of Fresno, California; one sister-in-law, Helen Thomas of Toronto, Kansas; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

 

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 5, 2018 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Moran Christian Church.
