Obituary of Shirley A. Reeves

Shirley Anne Reeves, age 78, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017, at the Anderson County Hospital, Garnett, Kansas.

She was born September 21, 1939 in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Rollie and Shirley (Lane) Merscham. She graduated from Richmond High School, Richmond, Kansas.

She married Thomas Walters and traveled many places while he was in the U.S. Navy. This union was blessed with four children, Michael, Robin, Terry, and William. They later divorced. She married Don Reeves in 1975 and Shirley helped raise his children as her own, Carmen, Carla, Robin, Pam, Arbutus, Isaac, and Serena.

Shirley worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Ottawa, Kansas, and was a custodian at Central Heights High School for many years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dale Eileen Merscham; and one brother, Bobby Merscham.

Shirley is survived by her children; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one sister, Donna Stahl and husband John; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Richmond, Kansas, with burial to follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
