Kay Maple Westerman, age 71, of Iola, Kansas passed away, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola. Kay was the only child born to Harold and Marjorie (Jones) Hank. Kay was born on August 16, 1946 at Iola. Following her mother's marriage to Udell Hobelman, Kay was adopted by Udell on May 8,1957. She grew up in Moran, later moving to Iola, graduating from the Iola High School with the class of 1964. Following high school she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Maple on June 21, 1964. This union was blessed with one daughter, Rebecca. They made their home in Iola. Kay worked in the Utility Office for the City of Iola for 28 and a half years. In her free time, Kay enjoyed restoring antique furniture, and then keeping some for herself, selling some and giving some to her family and friends. Throughout her life Kay enjoyed her time of fellowship with local churches, she also enjoyed volunteering for area church activities. Kay busied herself with many home improvement projects, as she was always looking to update a wall color or texture. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie, on August 27, 1985; her biological father, Harold Hank; her adopted father, Udell Hobelman; and her mother, Marjorie Tate. She is survived by her husband, Wendell Westerman of Iola; her daughter, Becky Prall and husband, Brian, and grandsons, Garrett and Wyatt Prall of Stillwell, Kansas; step-son, Michael Westerman and wife, Shelley, and step-grandchildren, Isabelle and Samuel Westerman of Cypress, Texas; brother, Rodney Hobelman and wife, Janet of Snohomish, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas 66749. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery.
